Rotary International exerts utmost emphasis on the membership development by either inducting new members to the club or by organizing new clubs in the locality. Existing Rotary Clubs of Narayanganj and Narayanganj Midtown , Narayanganj Central ​​​​​Inducted a large number of member and even a greater number of respective personalities were left outside or Rotary in Narayanganj. To bring them in the Rotary world, Rtn. Nani Gopal Saha, ex-member of RC Narayanganj had been in action for collecting and motivating them for Rotary for a new club in Narayanganj. Rtn. Mir Anisuzzaman, PHF, the District Governor, while visiting RC Narayanganj Central opined for organising a new club under the sponsorship of RC Narayanganj Central. Rtn. Nani Gopal Saha requested Rtn. Sharfuddin Ahmed Rabi, President, RC Narayanganj Central to allow him organise a club Rtn. Rabi then requested the District Governor, Rtn. Mir Anisuzzaman, PHF to approve the proposal and to appoint Rtn. Engr. Md. Nazim Uddin, PP and IPP of RC Narayanganj Central as the GSR.
Accordingly six organizing meetings were held in the Narayanganj Club Ltd. and the following decisions were resolve;
1. The name of the club would be 'Rotary Club of Narayanganj Uptown.
2. The name of the weekly bulletin would ''Dundee of the East''
3. Standard Constitution and bylaws were approved unanimously.
4. Rtn. Nani Gopal Saha was elected as the Charter President and Rtn. Adv. Abdul Majid Khondker was selected as the Charter Secretary.
5. The members of the club also decided to contribute US$100 each to TRF to dignify the club as as a 100% RFSM Club in Bangladesh. The meetings were attended by the rnowned businessmen, bankers, educationists, lawyers like Rtn. Nani Gopal , Mr. Md. Zakir Hossain, Miss Jaminee Ahmed, Mr. Akbar Hossain Tutu, Mrs. Dilara Masud Mayna, Mrs. Minura Begum, Mrs. Maqsuadul Alam Khondoker, Mr. Kamrul Hassan Munna and others, As per advice and suggestion of the District Trainer Rtn. Hasan Moniruzzaman and the GSR Trn Engr. Md. Nazim Uddin the list of 40 members were compiled and sent to the District Governor for processing it for approval of the club on the 20-08-2003.
